FINALLY.
I can almost feel the collective shout of excitement from close friends & family who have been anticipating this moment. My own feelings are mixed: excitement, nervousness, uncertainty … This has been a long time coming.
I debated awhile about what to write about for my inaugural “first post.” With years of food photos accumulated on my hard drive, how do I choose from the hundreds of cooking & eating moments?
I rediscovered thousands of pictures, and noticed how much I have grown. My food preferences have evolved, the photo styling has changed, and cooking skills have expanded. This was the main motivation for starting this blog: to document, accumulate, and share my experiences for those who want to listen, watch, or learn.
Time to start. Deep breath … and here we go!
Okay, I started with something that looks really complicated. But this Korean Bibimbap actually consists of simple and (relatively) healthy components brought together to make a special, delicious dish. If you have a Korean grocery store nearby (H Mart is a personal favorite) you can find a lot of these individual parts ready-made, which is always a popular option for a quick weeknight meal.
I wanted to highlight this specific dish because it’s a pretty challenging (read: time-consuming) recipe to make from scratch. It is something that I have come to love, and now consider a staple in my repertoire. But this is exactly my own goal with this blog: challenge myself with something that looks complicated now, but with time & practice might become easier and just another part of me.
I hope you’ll join me in this journey!
You are a great writer and a beautiful photographer, Angela. I look forward to reading and learning from your blog!
Thank you so much, Amber!! =) I really hope you’ll enjoy what’s to come!
Your photographs are beautiful, can’t wait to see more. You are amazing.
Thanks, Elizabeth!! =D
I’ll take two! (Actually let’s be real… I’d probably eat seven)
Oh, Jeff – I’d gladly make you 7! But I’m not stacking it that high, or else you’d practically have to climb it. =P Or have a very weird game of bibimbap jenga!
